So (as with any good rock show) hanging out in the parking lot after the show is a great time to meet people. After Melvins, I met Minnesota Tim and The Van Lady (didn't ever hear her real name). We talked about shows and growing up Midwest while feeling that connection to the music and culture going on at the time for about 45 minutes before we split. The Van lady was just a sweet angel who has been taking her van to shows for 30 years. It was so cute! I was quite honored she let me add a FreeSky sticker to it...and right in the back window! #makingfriends

Met this family from Munich, Germany who stopped by Hawkeye Point today while I was working and spent some time visiting with them. They said they just flew in to #Minneapolis and were renting a van and driving to #lasvegas , stopping along the way to see Mt Rushmore, the Badlands, and Yellowstone NP. The son spoke very good English so we chatted about the Midwest culture and landscape . He said they just fascinated by all these small town that have no fresh grocery stores but 3 or 4 gas stations and the incredible length of our trains. I explained to him that our rails are predominantly not used as passenger rail like in Europe. His parents spoke and understood very little English and were quite stoic while his wife claimed her English was not very good but she understood everything I said just fine. Thier little daughter just ran all over the place. I have a feeling traveling with her will be quite memorable. I hope they find some nice places like Hawkeye Point where she can run free because she was fast! #makingfriends #hawkeyepointiowa #freeskystudios #travelwithme
